Apple no longer sells the iPod classic, iPod nano, and iPod shuffle, but we can still take a look through the iPod’s full history. Beginning in 2001 with the original iPod model and ending in 2019 with the 7th generation iPod touch. So watch this video if you’d like to see ever iPod ever made! Music: Free Beat 2014 — Deeztunes
Now before we get in to all the different models of the iPod Nano, let’s first talk about the circumstances surrounding its release. The iPod nano was a replacement for the iPod mini, and this move was very risky at the time since the newest model of iPod Mini was released just eight months before and was selling very well. Actually, I remember seeing these colorful iPods everywhere at school and in public since the iPod mini was the best-selling model up to that point. But Steve Jobs knew Apple had to replace the iPod mini with something even better since other manufacturers were beginning to catch up with its design and features.. So in September 2005 that’s exactly what Apple did. Jobs took the stage and unveiled the original iPod Nano in the most spectacular way possible.. The nano was almost half the thickness of the iPod mini and introduced all kinds of new features like flash storage, which meant there were no moving parts, making the device even more durable and compact. This alone was a huge benefit since the iPod Nano was a portable device and would likely be dropped from time to time.

I got an mp3 player just so I don’t need my phone to listen. It has the exact same ui as the first one, but it actually doesn’t skip music. You can try pressing the menu button and then changing song sorting, you can shuffle this way. I have it for a week and it’s unironically good. Mine is grey and wider tho.
I actually had the Sonic iPod game. As you can imagine, it was like hell to control. It was actually the whole game and I got all the chaos emeralds for a true ending on that. Getting that, though, it was literal years in the making. The life system was also partially bugged. I remember marble zone mostly because of just how terribly slow it was to get through. Would not recommend, ever.
My mum had a game in her (pre-android) phone that I loved. You had a virtual pet, and you would interact with them by taking photos, usually related to a color or something like that. I would love to play it again, but it was one of those weird mobile phone games that just disappeared with time. I never saw it on another phone.
There was this game published by THQ called Chop Sushi that came out on the app store in its early days. It was this awesome story based RPG which utilized puzzle mechanics in its turn based combat. It has now lost in the digital archives and I’ve been wanting to replay it for years now.
I always wanted an iPod Nano but I never got one! I had a 2nd gen iPod Shuffle, then I upgraded to the iPod Touch a couple of years later, and I used that until I got a better smart phone and just used Spotify. Sometimes old iPods get donated at work (thrift store) and it’s very tempting to get one…
3:40 i actually have this one… to be honest for $5 it’s actually quite good. well the usb somewhat wobbly but for 5h playtime and the sounds quality almost on par with my phone. yeah for a bootleg… it’s my favourite one.
while that one 6:59 for almost the same price, plays well but 30m playtime?
So if someone were to, say, have a backup of the game Phase (among others), is this still an item of interest, or is this readily available now? Recently discovered some game backup files I have from my days of iPod-owning. I had bad taste mostly but Phase is there, too.
In regards to Sonic The Hedgehog, it ran really well actually. It was an exact port, and the click wheel was used exclusively for the game, not for the music controls. The only issue that I noticed when playing is that you couldn’t hold left and jump (center button). Instead you had to click left to move a little, let go, and then jump. It’s strange how the right side worked perfectly.
I had a Nano with the vid cam and uploaded a few games to it. I haven’t been able to find it for like 7 years. Think it’s gone.
But I did have original Spore on it. That game was GREAT. Where did it go? I was looking for it for my newer devices but could only find poor knockoffs or a build-a-creature Spore battle game; not the same. It’s another reason why I need to find that damn Nano.
I’m a proud owner of a 5th generation one and I absolutely love it. In my opinion the best iPod Nanos are the 7th and 5th generation one. I would love a 7th generation one with the addition of a speaker, a microphone, a video camera and a clip.
Just gonna let you know,he said that’s not how you spell color, weeeelllll,it is,but it isnt, basically yes but actually no,so thats actually how Americans spell it,so its probably an American product, but since you are Australian, you spell it as colour.
Ok… I feel that the design has something to do with airpods. Like, 1st gen airpods and 2nd gen airpods aren’t so different one from the other, like 1st and 2nd gen iPod mano, but both 3rd gens we’re larger than their predecessors
A few days ago I bought a fifth generation iPod nano, what I don’t understand is because it says «speed stick waterproof» on the back and I can’t find any information about it, I already searched Google and didn’t find any information And I asked a relative and he says that iPod was drawn by speed stick in the World Cup in Germany, but I’m still not sure what wave and I would like to know if you know anything about it
The only one I ever had was the 2009 model…I hated it and got rid of it shortly. Horrific battery life, freezing issues, would get hot too quickly and it would get scratched even by looking at it.
Just remembered…I found a red HIV 2010 model when I was parting out a car and didn’t bother with it I gave it to my sister right off the bat.
My favorite aussie expression «built like a brick dunny»:) If interested look up Tenswall mp3 and look for the touch screen one 16gb with the weird white home button looking thing not a button but touch screen it’s an odd beast but I love it.
Hopefully iPod touch line can still exist in the future, maybe adopt different shell like the one on iPhone 6/7/8, or at most iPhone XR/11, just so there can be a cheap device to use for some with low budget but want to get in the iOS system
The fact that the iPad now I don’t only have a maximum of 4 GB is bullshit especially for the $400 price. I say that because I had a $30 Phillips MP3 player with 4 GB of storage when that came out and the Phillips MP3 player was much smaller.

Sorry for so many comments but you should also try mp3tag for editing batches of music files or albums and it’s FREE SOFTWARE…I use it a lot and I love this program. You might also want to try freac for ripping cd’s to your PC too I use this a lot as well it’s fantastic and also totally free.
8:00 It’s «Crystal Defenders» not «Crystal Chronicles», which was not only one of my favorite iPod games, it’s my favorite version of this game because if you messed up you could cheat by holding menu+middle button to hard reboot the iPod and «reload» your save (they removed this possibility from the phone versions, plus you don’t want to be hard rebooting your phone like that all the time) Other honorable mentions: Peggle which controlled perfectly, and Sonic which looked, sounded and controlled surprisingly well given the medium.
I have a red iPod with the camera on the back and with an OS that looks exactly like the original one. It also works with original cables, but is detected as a flash device and not in iTunes. Also the touch wheel is the same as in the original ones.

I bought the fuck out of a bunch of clickwheel games for way too much money on my ipod nano
I have some super weird nostalgia for all these terrible ports on ipod and old mobile phones
Crystal chronicles and peggle is some good stuff
