Description: A simple, easy-to-remember solution to the puzzle Peg Solitaire, also known as Solitaire, Solo Noble or Brainvita demonstrated by Crime Writer Robert Darke
I get the Jacquie Lawson Advent Calendars every year (find on her web site; makes great gifts). Within each year’s new advent scene is always the «home» that contains all kinds of goodies to play. The marble solitaire is one of them. I play over and over, making myself crazy each year, figuring «I’ll just give it one more try!» Finally, I decided to see if the solution was on the internet, so I Googled it, and up popped your lovely video. I guess it’s technically cheating, if I even remember your method, but I can always watch video again. Thank you so much, Robert, and I’ll check out your book. I’m an avid mystery/thriller fan! Cheers!
Absolutely brilliant instruction. Watched other solutions and was still scratching my head. This got me sorted in one viewing. The hardest part was staying awake while listening to the dulcet tones of your Scottish accent:D THANK YOU!
Thank you for these concise instructions. I’ve watched a few other tutorials and thought I understood but still couldn’t finish the game. You explained this so well and I was finally able to solve the puzzle. Thank you for your time and effort on this wonderful tutorial!
After spending sixty-five, frustrating years trying to solve this ancient puzzle, You’ve shown me how to do it, Mr.Corzi! Thank you your explanation was perfect and easy for an old brain like mine to absorb after a couple of views!I could do it in my sleep after that for a while but I found that, after a few months away from it, I had completely forgotten your critical, opening moves and had to watch this again to refresh my memory! It must be an age thing! Thanks again, though, for showing the way so well!
This tutorial was simply as good as it could possibly be! You explained and demonstrated in an extremely clear, well paced, organized, and supremely easy-to-remember manner. Easy as 1, 2, 3. Not to mention the wonderful historic background of the game! Perfect!!
For 15 years I have been trying to figure out the solution to that puzzle. I only recently found out the puzzles name. If it wasn’t for the fact that the person who gifted me this mental torture device died 14 years ago, I would have found the time to hit him over the head with it then see where blasted balls land after that. Thank you so much for the solution. I will now go back to fishing. At least I can always catch a cold if the fish do not bite..
Thank you for your excellent teaching, in America we have an older game called Hi Q. Same concept, however one version requires the “red” peg to be left in the game and land in the center hole to solve the puzzle! I’ve not been able to solve peg solitaire using this concept!!! Perhaps you can?
You can actually win from any empty hole. The only catch is that you cannot end up in the same hole you left empty from the middle 3 holes. It’s a bit odd that you started with the hole I label as N empty. But the solution is similar to any of the «next to an Apex» solutions. You can win from the «Apex starts», the «mid base starts» as well as end up in the same starting hole. Every game started from an internal position, will win in a mid base position. Try this one. With holes labeled A-O, the A position at the top, K position at the bottom left, and O position at bottom right. Make these moves. KM,NL,FM,LN,BI,GB… Then either, AF,JC,AD,DM,MO,OF,FM Or OF,CJ,OM,MD,DA,AF,FM. Each game starts and ends in the bottom mid base position (M), but the ending peg makes 5 jumps to end up there.
