There is a better way to deploy Windows 10 images than using a DVD.. This video shows you how to install and configure Windows Deployment Services to deploy Windows 10 images using WDS instead of the old fasioned way.. Covered in this video. How to install WDS Role on Server 2012 r2. How to configure WDS. How to add the boot and install images to WDS. Deploying the image to a computer
This tutorial explains how to capture an image from a reference PC and upload it to a WDS server, to be re-deployed by more than one PC in your organisation. An example of this would be a new suite of computers requiring one master image WDS can be used for this.. This video assumes you have already correctly set up your server with DNS, DHCP, and WDS roles installed and configured (be it virtual of physical). Correctly.. I have already covered MDT(Microsoft deployment toolkit) integration with WDS in a separate video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HawvxWFPTOs.

Windows Server 2012 R2.
Спасибо большое! Удивительно, что ролик был выпущен три недели назад, мне очень помогло, всё доходчиво и теория, и наглядно показано на примере, в других источниках такого не встречал. Благодарю еще раз:)
Anyone still experiencing problems could look at my video. I went through common errors made by users and solutions to them. 1.Install and configure windows deployment server 2.Use Sysprep to capture operating system with all its programs 3.Deploy operating system across https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzTOrdKQuKA&feature=youtu.be
Jesus if you would slow down you would stop uploading the same thing 8 times. Try clicking refresh every once in a while. Every time you were re-uploading things that were already there all I could think was «NOOOOOOO! JUST HIT REFRESH!!! IT’S ALREADY THERE!!!». Ok I’m done ranting. Great video lol.
Hello Jake, I wanted to suggest some points that you could have incorporated into your video that could have made this video otherwise useful;1. The use of system prep to install a complete OS and app installation on remote computer 2. The avoidance of wasting time using system prep when direct WDS would have sufficed. You seem to be on the happy boat from my point of view because of your success in deploying prefetch based deployment after years of practice.
This video was really thorough and helpful. I have been looking for nearly an hour before finding the information you provided. Thanks for taking the time to make it and include the nearly layman’s description to break it down and make it easy to comprehend.
Hey, i managed to get this working by following the tutorial. Now i’m trying it again in new virtual machines, and i get an error when i try to network capture boot. http://prntscr.com/h9h2oa It says that winload.exe is missing and it indeed isn’t there, the entire boot folder is gone? can you help me?
Very good sysprep presentation. Supposing you’re working on Windows 7, however, your deployment image will get too big with all the updates and stuff. This tool will help you minimize winsxs size: w7rebase.blogspot.com. It will also help you if you’re working offline with a mounted image.
Hi boss, do you have any idea how to deploy Windows 10 images to NVMe drive laptops via network imaging? I have got 2000 units of laptops using NVMe ssd drive. Tried to use Clonezilla server version, Acronis, aomei and Ghost, but not successful. Searched on the internet, some says the image don’t have driver for NVMe, but the image that I have is the latest image been extracted from workable NVMe ssd laptop that I imaged manually. Thanks
Ok guys, I’ve finally had time to create a Facebook page to keep you guys posted on everything that’s happening, if you’d like to follow it go to https://www.facebook.com/jakebillingonyoutube/ and hit that like button! The more the merrier!
Jake, when you prepare systems prior to sysprep do you activate the local administrator account and install applications and agents under that local administrator account? I do and seem to get game ending results as sysprep blows up the master computer. I wondering if it is because I should install every thing under the first boot account instead. Of course Surface Pro devices are an extremely difficult system to capture and deploy, so maybe it’s something else.
HI Jake. thanks for the video. Somethings I don’t understand and I think are important.
Could you please install the AD DS, then DHCP and DNS to the virtual server and then install and configure the WDS on it, so we can fully understand how it is done from start to finish???
Thank you.
I myself is trying to do the same thing on a Virtual box but one thing or other is missing out and am not able to PXE boot.
I thought the idea behind WDS was to setup a golden image on a client, capture it and upload it. This way drivers, and applications are all part of the image. I’m not sure why you would want to import a pure windows dvd?
Thank you so much for this video. There is a SHOCKING lack of information, or, rather, a plentiful amount of extremely convoluted and poorly explained information, on this subject. You made it easy to understand!
problem: WdsClient: An error occurred while communicating with the Windows Deployment Services server. Please check to ensure that the server is optional and that the necessary ports are open on the server’s firewall
Very clear video, but I am encountering a error when I want want to capture image via Sysprep. I have an UEFI image and all is on the same vlan. Windows image is able to ping to the wds server succesfully. I PXEbooted the image and then it tries to contact the wds server (set in DHCP option 66 and 57. And WDS and DHCP are not on the same server). The error is: Windows deployment services encountered an error: Error Code: 0x102
I search the internet but I cant fix it. I have enable the checkmark to let DHCP contact the WDS server also. I just dont know what I am missing. Does enyone have any tips?
how can we create our own Windows image? to deploy it. ( i want it for i have a clean install and its ver. 1703 win10 pro x64) i want to have its image. for next format. i dont want todo; 1607 to 1703 uptade again.
Would you uninstall HyperV integration tools before sys-prepping it or leave it on? I’m going to try with uninstalling it first as I’ll only use it on physical computers. I hope it doesn’t mess up the image somehow.
Great video, thanks for the explanation. If I wanted to do a mass upgrade on multiple machines and not have to be there to automate it, is there a way to add the unattend.xml file to the installation files? I would like all of our users to not have any involvement at all besides pressing F12 to boot.
Спасибо большое!
