Is anyone ever gonna tell Kojima that you don’t need to get within melee range to shoot someone with a gun? That’s., like, their whole purpose for existing. Half of the fight scenes in this game consist of mooks running right up to Snake and either getting CQC’d or just having their heads blown off at point blank.
this boss is annoying af i didnt even kniw about cqc mechanics till this shit. theres no tips or anything your just supposed to know that you can put him in a choke hold and inject him with the syringe

I’ve run into a glitch, after knocking down her dolls and capturing her using the mantis doll, I shake the controller like crazy, problem is on the last shake, her psyche bar depletes all the way and but there’s still a 1/4 left on the last bar of health and she won’t die, anyone know how to get around this?
I’m playing through MGS. I’ll be honest I’m finding it pretty hard. I played MGS 3 and 2 with no issues but this one! I don’t think the janky controls help much but every boss fight my progress grinds to a halt ��. Where games simply harder back in the day?
Hahahahaha!!!! It is very easy, you have to run towards the left side and you have to shoots to the dolls that mantis have supports, when a doll fall down catch it and use it for shoot to mantis, I am Spanish and it is difficult to me to answer you but it doesn’t matter, hahahaha!!!!:):D
@zilbra1 i know how to kill her, only like a few people having the same glitch as me.. so i guess they thought it wasn’t worth fixing. My glitch come after i gotten the mantis doll and posses screaming mantis. Her health won’t go down all the way, she is left with a little bit of health and no matter how many time i shake my controller or re-posses her it doesn’t do anything.
Can’t disagree with you. Actually I did not play Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 but instead I played 3 and 4.. and my first glimpse of Psycho Mantis was controlling Screaming Mantis and Screaming Mantis in turn controlled everyone around her.
For anyone having trouble, 12 years later. Personally, I found that un equipping a weapon worked. Only having the syringe equipped, and then going up to him when he’s knocked down and pressing down R1 (I think?) Then pressing triangle
so do you need to have the Operator equipped too? because every time i take him down, im using the M4 and the syringe is equipped, but when i try to CQC him he just swats me away and then does his gay little spin move
@robielicious That’s the point. Laughing Octopus uses Decoy Octopus’s codename, the tentacles of Solidus Snake, and the emotion of The Joy (AKA The Boss). Raging Raven uses Vulcan Raven’s codename, the explosives of Fatman, and the emotion of The Fury. Crying Wolf uses Sniper Wolf’s codename, the railgun of Fortune, and the emotions The End and The Sorrow. And finally, Screaming Mantis uses Psycho Mantis’s codename, the knives of Vamp, and the emotions of The Pain and The Fear.
@Longmachao you are doin it wrong,by shooting the boss it wont do anything,shoot the dolls till hey both drop.get the dolls,equipt one doll by going to the weapon menu and point the doll towards the boss.THATS how you kill him.

My first battle with her, I tryed the same strategy of MGS1, press PS button and change the controller to «Player 2», then I realized that if wasnt working with Johny, is cause he dont have nanomachine inside his body, so I used the syringe
I did this part with no chaff grenades and I didnt get caught by the gecko. The biggest problem is vamp. I keep getting him down but idk how to use the syringe on him. I tried following the instructions but he just gets up fast asf and I usually run out of ammo before I die.

In Nintendo‘s remake of this game I had a choice I could use a weapon M9 Tranquilizer Gun same also had a PSG-1T in the Nuclear Warhead Storage Building on that Floor so I wouldn’t have to go get the Lethal Version on the Second-Floor basement of the Tank Hanger. I’d picked it up after resisting Ocelot’s Torture & escape. Then take the Heliport Truck to the Warhead Storage. To get back there faster. I got every dog Tag in the Game. With Meryl’s, Johnny’s, Mantis’, Wolf’s, Raven’s and Liquid’s.
1. Equip Shotgun/ RPG/ Machine Gun/ Grenade Launcher Any heavy hitter weapon. 2. Continually shoot, you know… Vamp! 3. When he’s down equip the syringe from the ITEMS menu and the OPERATOR gun from the WEAPONS menu (if you haven’t already). 4. Get behind and hold R1 (nothing else, just the R1 button). 5. Press the triangle button when prompted to. VOILA!
CQC is a pain against bosses. You dont have to be unarmed (as someone said) but only guns that say CQC when equiped will work. This is a tricky thing that must be done just right!. Stop saying its easy!!!

I hate the fact the the CQC injection is mandatory to weaken him. 70% of the times i grab him he inmediately escapes and i have to weaken him all over. I don’t have the solargun since i’m not a pacifist.
This game is great.. but my copy has a glitch and when i get to this part screaming mantis won’t die. His health doesn’t deplete all the way when you shake your controller.. so i can’t even fucking finish this game. what a fucking waste of money, they didn’t even send out an update or patch to fix this problem. I’m def. not gonna buy the upcoming metal gear rising game.

The more easy way to beat her is: Start the fight and use syringe, go to meryl and CQC her, then use the syringe in her. She will go down, now beat mantis shooting sometimes Mantis and sometimes Sorrow. Done xd

There is a hidden cutscene if you hold the L1 button after Psycho Mantis. It’s shows The Sorrow with his arms crossed. It won’t tell you to hold L1, you just have to hold without it telling you. Skip the X flashback.
All four of these bosses (beauties) were fun to fight. It’s rare that this can be said about bosses. Vamp was boring, and I find him annoying. Ocelot was alright, but all four of the beauties were fun. I loved how Laughing Octopus hid while I had to find her, and shooting down ravens to make Raging Raven angrier, I liked how Crying Wolf also hid in that big battleground and I had to find her, and finally I liked shooting down the puppets off of Screaming Mantis’ hands. Historic game.

the reason you cant hit her or her dolls is cause shes manipulating the nano machines inside snakes body otacon explains it when you call him which also explains why the uploader used the syringe naomi gave snake to suppress the nano machines
