I will not be catching Raikou as he is a terrible pokémon (has IVs of 0 in every stat except HP in this game due to a glitch) and is a complete pain to catch (not to mention I don’t use legendaries in pokémon games). If you really want the dog, for example to migrate to Gen IV, you can use the master ball but it means you will have an even harder time with Mewtwo..
Based on your starter, after completing the Sevii Island quests, one of the three legendary dogs of Johto will roam Kanto. You will find the dog with a type advantage over your starter (Entei if you chose Bulbasaur, Raikou if you chose Squirtle, Suicune if you chose Charmander)..
If you caught Mewtwo without the Master Ball, this should be easy, as you can throw it as soon as you find the dog. If you don’t have the Master Ball, it will be much harder..
The dog will flee on the first turn if it can, but you get 1 turn to attack first. The best tactic is to get a Gengar and Mean Look the dog so it can’t escape, then Hypnosis + Shadow Ball (or some other attacking move) it until you can start throwing Ultra Balls..
If you get Suicune, it will be easy, as long as you keep the Gengar alive. If you get Entei or Raikou, beware! They have Roar. If they use Roar to escape, they will permanently disappear from the game. You don’t want that, so you can use Taunt to stop them from doing that. (You need to use the TM12 which you get in the Rocket Hideout in Celadon City.).
Note that Mean Look wears off if the Pokémon that uses it switches out or faints. Taunt wears off 2 turns after it was used in this generation, without any message to say so..
Here I catch a Gastly and train it up to level 48 where it learns Mean Look. I stop it from evolving beforehand as Haunter only learns the move at level 64 which is too high for the repel trick to work. An alternative is to trade a level 5 Gastly (you need to breed to do this) over to R/S/E and level it up to level 13 there..
The music used in this video is the legendary beasts unused theme from Ruby and Sapphire they were intended to be in those games but that didn’t happen and the music was left in the ROM..

On this video I will show you guys how to catch ONE of the Legendary Dogs!!
Note: You must become Pokémon League Champion before finding the Legendary 3 Dogs..
You must catch at least 60 Pokémon in order for Professor Oak to upgrade your Pokédex to the National Pokédex..
You must complete the Sevii Islands to retrieve the Ruby & Sapphire..
You must defeat Team Rocket after the End Credits. (You’ll see them at Mt. Ember).
If you chose Bulbasaur, you will find Entei..
If you chose Charmander, you will find Suicune..
If you chose Squirtle, you will find Raikou..

I havent defeated the elite four. I picked Charmander at the start of the game. I encountered all three of the legendary dogs while in the sevii islands. I was in the pattern bush I think it’s called. Can you tell me how tf I managed this??
Back then it was like 2010 or 2012, i already completed the game and I was on my way to get articuno, I was so excited to get articuno that when I encountered a raikou and I forgot that it was a legendary beast and how haed to find it, and regretted the fuck out of it mahn
Guys who are trying to catch the legendary dogs (not suicuine) if they use roar DO NOT SAVE AFTER because entie or raiku will not spawn if they use roar to escape

it is NOT necessary to get the Rainbow Pass,and do the Sevii Islands quest to get the Legendary Dogs.you only have to get all 8 badges,beat the Elite 4,and get the National Dex (by having 60 pokemon)….
2 different gba’s 1 fire red 1 leaf green….. a whole lot of trading with myself and restarting my non main gba and game. That’s how I’ll get all three legendaries and all Pokemon in the game (starters included) into one same game
When i saw the roaming pokemon i remember the gen 1 pokemon that has roar glitch…seriously when the roaming pokemin use roar you cannot find it again but if the roaming pokemon decided to flee you can track it…
Nice! Makes the process of tracking them down without a Pokedex entry 100x easier. Never thought to use a max repel to prevent weaker Pokemon from appearing. Genius! Thanks a ton. Took about 7 max repels for me, total of about 10 minutes. Way better than scouring the map for 3 hours to find your legendary dog! Now if only I could get the other two without starting a new game.
i got suicune one try bc after i beat the elite for 2 times i went to celadon city and went to route 16 and went into the building for fly and got out went to the grass and encountered a suicune instantly

I as toying around then i bumped into raikou the way i found raikou i was just playing in the grass THEN i bumped into it but i FOUND A PLAN we all know wobbufet has a ability where you cant escape it BUT i have a solution for that
1.remove all of your pokemon
2.Catch 6 wobbufets
3.that way when the pokemon uses roar the new pokemon will still be wobbufet
Here’s A tip If You Have A Ultra Ball Or Great Ball Before You Press Use Save It And If You Didn’t Catch It In The First Throw Press Load And Do This Method By Me To Catch a Rare Pokemon First Damaging It Till The Hp Bar Is Red And Do What What The Method I say Before You Press Use Save It And If You Didn’t Catch It Just Press Load I Hope It Works For You:)
I can’t remember the exact version cuz it was years ago as a kid. But I came across Entei when I got to the second town where the path to the Elite Four is on the left. I was like wtf I just started. Only time it’s ever happened to me.
