If you think that regular, classic baseball is getting a little stale, spice up your sports life with a little English-bred Cricket..
Step 1: Gather people.
Gather twenty-two players and two umpires on a 350-foot long, oval-shaped field with a 66-foot-long playing area, or pitch, in the middle, and divide the players into two teams..
Step 2: Gather equipment.
Get the cricket ball, a cricket bat, wickets, stumps, and bails. Set the wickets up on either end of the pitch. Wickets comprise three vertical stumps and two horizontal bails..
Step 3: Set up the field.
Set up play by sending the fielding team onto the pitch, to try to catch the ball and prevent runs from being scored. Choose one player on the fielding team to be the bowler. the bowler will take the ball and stand behind the wicket opposite the batter. Elect a wicket keeper to squat behind the wicket behind the batter..
Tip.
The bowler and wicket keeper should wear protective gear to avoid injury..
Step 4: Set up the batters.
Send two players of the batting team to bat a striker and a non-striker. The bowler runs and pitches the ball to the striker, who attempts to hit the ball. The non-striker will stand behind and wait to run. If the ball is hit, the two men run to the opposite end of the pitch..

Tip.
If a batter hits the ball past the far boundary of the field, their team is automatically awarded six runs. If the ball hits the ground before it passes the boundary, the team receives four runs..
Step 7: Win.
Win by scoring the most runs. An «inning» is complete when everyone on the batting team has batted. After each team plays one inning, the team with the most runs is the winner. If that happens to be your team, don’t gloat. Cricket is a difficult but exciting sport cut the losing team a break..

This is just my point of view, but as an American living on the East Coast. Cricket is almost nonexistent, I’ve never once been taught by our education system how to play the sport, it’s almost like it’s invisible here it’s unfortunate because this looks like a really fucking fun thing to play with some friends.
As a campus police officer in the US I always see the foreign students playing cricket and never understood what was actually happening. This video explained a lot. I however will stick to my new found love of Australian Rules Football instead.
OK. I love baseball…its strategies and nuances…the head game between the batter and the pitcher…it rich history of colorful and talented players and so forth…SO, why can’t you just explain the game of cricket, which I am eager to learn since it has some similarities to baseball, without starting out with the usual trashing of baseball? Getting a little stale? C’mon, just explain cricket to me so I can begin to appreciate that game while still enjoying baseball as well.
What isn’t mentioned here is that there are different formats of cricket which vary in how long they are. In the 3-hour version of the game (T20), both teams are restricted to hitting 120 pitches (known as «balls») each, and if 10 of a team’s batters are out, the team forfeits any pitches they didn’t play at yet.

We are all entitled to our own opinions, so I wanted to add that I don’t agree, at all…
I think this video did a great job at explaining what this sport is, it was short & sweet and to the point.
Just because the video didn’t suit you doesn’t mean you have to be a rude ass-clown.
First, you take the dinglepop, and you smooth it out with a bunch of schleem. The schleem is then repurposed for later batches.
Then you take the dinglebop and push it through the grumbo, where the fleeb is rubbed against it. It’s important that the fleeb is rubbed, because the fleeb has all of the fleeb juice.
Then a Shlami shows up and he rubs it, and spits on it.
Then you cut the fleeb. There’s several hizzards in the way.
The blaffs rub against the chumbles, and the plubus and grumbo are shaved away.
That leaves you with a regular old plumbus!

I don’t know why it’s seemed so mysterious when I’ve caught bits of it on TV. Seems pretty straightforward. The video didn’t mention «overs», though, which seems to be what innings are divided into. Are those number of balls, or what determines it?
I am black and always thought cricket was boring and for the lazy. This year we went out to play cricket and within 10 minutes I was very tired I couldn’t make more runs. It’s a very interesting sport and I love it more than football ����
Baseball clearly takes more skill to play.
1.Bat in cricket has a larger width so it’s easier to hit than baseball.
2. The ball isn’t thrown faster than a baseball. Also, baseball pitches can be curved, slider, changeup, fastball. Different style of pitches in baseball and it’s pretty much thrown one way in cricket.
3. All you need is to make contact with ball in cricket and no foul balls which is easy.

but seriously you dont need that much instrument to play cricket in your backyard…. you just need a bat and atennis ball and someting for stump….thats it… trust me its lot more fun than it seems….. ohh did i mention that it is second most popular game in the world…..:)
The wicket is the playing surface, the stumps are not the wicket. I have yet to see a bowler wearing protective gear, especially a fast bowler with a long run up. The last thing he needs is padding and a helmet.

Here in Brazil we have a very similar game called «bets», which is pronounced exactly like «bats». Actually, isn’t just similar, it’s almost the same. The main diference is that it’s a children’s game, so there are only 4 players and the game is played with a rubber ball.
Someone can explain the rules of cricket to me till they are blue in the face, and at the end ask if I understand?
