  • thank you so much for this it helped a lot and got everything working. I just have a few questions: can I use a Wii controller for this emulator and what do I do if some of the textures are missing in a game, like I was playing smash64 and the willow wisp tree texture was completely missing except for its eyes and mouth.

  • Okay so gotta question I have no trouble mapping my PS4 controller for usually 2d games like SNES and gameboy etc… But as soon as I get into 3D space and whatnot, it doesn’t really work too well with project64, do you think this is because of DS4windows being wonky with project64? Or basically what im asking is do you have better luck playing with just a straight microsoft xbox controller?

  • One time an uncle of mine came over for a day visit and I played some mario kart 64 and I told him I didn’t have goldeneye so he just straight up told me to get my laptop so I did
3 minutes later he somehow set this up on my mom’s crappy laptop

  • So I am having a problem when setting up my xbox 360 controller. I do as you say, make sure that Plugged is checked, but I get a notification saying no controller on the game. Using a Profile 2 setting since the profile 1 setting will not change from my keyboard. What do I do

  • Did you use a Virtual Machine for a reason, like if it was a virus, or am i being a little too alert? I think i might try it on a virtual machine before a do it on my main PC.
The reasons why l am asking is because I might be too paranoid, and you had like, 0 programs. (besides Project64.)

  • You really shouldn’t have shown where you got the game from. That website is basically the only trustworthy emulation site and considering this video is fairly popular, its more likely that companies will see it and take down the whole website.

  • Your videos are the only helpful ones I could find. I spent alot of time downloading bunk emulators and spending hours doing useless tasks when I could’ve just followed these simple instructions. Thumbs up and THANK YOU for making it simple

  • UPDATE! Emuparadise has removed every rom/game from the site. BUT! There is a way to still download the roms from the site, I made a short 2 minute tutorial explaining how to do it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CGVP2YX1bY

This news does not change anything else from the tutorial, you will just need to follow the tutorial above or get the games from a different place. The other two I recommend are retrozone (currently not working) and vimms lair, like I said above.

With this news I will be creating a new set of emulator tutorials.

Hopefully this pinned comment will help everybody that needs it.

Have fun and enjoy your N64 emulator!

  • Legitimately, these roms are almost unplayable. I can’t even finish the first level of Super Mario 64 because the controls are so mind-bogglingly dog shit. Try to go across a three foot bridge, it’s fucking impossible. What a fucking scam.

  • your flew through that whole thing. Yeah, i have tons of questions.
…the only people who are going to be able to understand any of this, are people who already know what to do, anyway.
You spoke way to quickly and did not enunciate your words. Your method of a clear, proper tutorial is lacking. Sloowww down, man! Be more descriptive.

  • Is this supposed to work on most computers I have a new dell laptop with plenty of memory 8gb and a 2 ghz Ryzan amd processor but it will start the game then run for 2 seconds and freeze, do you need an i5 or i7 or a gaming computer to run these? I tried my desktop also and had the same issue

  • Any ideas on how to get the Glide64 graphics plugin to actually apply again and not be instantly replaced by Jabo when I hit Apply (but doesn’t state any error per se)? That started today just after I deleted a few files that were in my general N64 roms folder (not in any actual PJ64 folder) not knowing what they were (and maddeningly not making note of their names, thinking they were likely part of some nonfunctioning emulator I’d downloaded earlier). So no doubt I tossed something vital to Glide, but I soon fished each one out of the recycle bin once I noticed a problem, and put them back in the same folder they were in (I know I didn’t miss any since everything else remaining in the recycle bin is unrelated to any emulator), but no good. Again, nothing was touched in any of the actual Glide or Project64 folders, ever, and every advanced graphics plugin setting remains unchanged from default. Sure like to be able to resume playing World Driver Champ without incessantly hideous visual effects and illegible text. Might I need to reinstall PJ64 itself? (and yes that is the only emulator I’ve gotten the game to run on, including 1964 and Mupen64++)

  • hey mate i watched this and it helped alot thank your advice. was going to ask you a question so how can i play the ps2 games that i download from lair woud you have to download another emulator in order for the ps2 games and if so could you recomend me one please thank you bro. it is very buzzy to see all the old games they had bak in the day and well replay them once again. One more other thing i was going to ask you with all the nintendo games downloaded is it possibile threw that app to use a xbox controller to configue to those games?? or not? im new to this emulator stuff so any advice and hints will be very much apprreciated thanks. thank you bro please get back to me when you kan thank you once again.

  • Thank you so much for the help I’ve been needing to play some games, I am stuck on a few things though. I downloaded Mario 64 which was one I’ve been wanting to play but I get no Sound at all and I can’t get Mario to walk around. All I can get him to do is punch. Please help. Update: I fixed the sound issue, had to be restarted but still can’t move.

  • Works great except you don’t need 7-Zip or win rar. Download Project 64 make it a desktop icon open it then I closed it then I went to romsmania typed in Donkey Kong 64 romsmania downloaded the game open the download installed the game fan I move Donkey Kong 64 into my project 64 and boom

  • hi I got project 64 to download and install and have it running Zelda ocarina of time but during certain parts of the gameplay I can’t rotate the screen to see what I am doing is there a fix? I am running a n64 controller and have it setup and working and everything any help is appreciated. or is this just and instance save and restart and see if it allows me to do what I want it to?

  • I do not recommend this way to play n64. He has shown you an old version and is missing features. IE: can’t play n64 DD games.

Also, he didn’t show plugins. The plugins that come with the emulator suck. Lastly, mupen64 thru retroarch is a good alternative too.

  • anythimg i do finish whit WinRAR arhive size 885 MB and anything i do don’t work and i try 4 times whit 35 min to download and nothing, when i give clik on Download my PC give me window of files four save and don’t give me what you have down on screen
